With over eleven years of competitive forensics experience, Megan Loden is the currently the Director of Forensics at Cypress Bay High School in Weston, Florida. In her first year, she has coached students to deep out-round success in PFD, LD, Congress, Extemp, and Interp at national tournaments such as Yale, Glenbrooks, and Crestian. Before that (while obtaining her M.A. in Communication), she was an assistant coach at California State University-Long Beach where she coached multiple national finalists in parliamentary debate and individual events. During her last year at CSULB, the team placed 5th in the nation at the American Forensics Associal National Tournament. Megan was also an avid competitor for 8 years before she started coaching. As a high school competitor in 2003, she was the Texas state runner-up in LD debate and in 2004, she was the state runner-up in LD (yes, again), state champion in International Extemp, NFL national quarter-finalist in International Extemp, and NFL National Champion in Impromptu Speaking. As an undergrad at West Texas A&M University, Megan was a two-time state champion in Parliamentary Debate, Top Speaker at the National Parliamentary Debate Association national tournament, and national finalist in Impromptu and Persuasive Speaking at the American Forensics Association national tournament. In 2008, Megan was also the runner-up in Persuasive Speaking at the Interstate Oratorical Association national tournament (the oldest forensics tournament in the U.S.). She is really excited to be joining FFI this year and to share her love of argumentation, rhetoric, and limited preparation speaking with the FFI PFDers!
