Chris McDonald, Director of Extemporaneous Speaking

Chris McDonald is the Director of Debate Activities for Egan High School, in Egan, Minnesota. An active, successful debate and speech coach for the past 19 years, Chris is currently the President of the Minnesota Debate Teachers Association, as well as the District Chair for the Southern Minnesota NFL District.

Mr. McDonald's students have compiled an impressive resume of success in both debate and speech. He has coached more than fifty students to the NFL National Speech and Debate tournament, where they have achieved three NFL National Championships and two runner-ups in Extemporaneous Speaking. Two of his students have qualified to the NFL Super Congress Finals, and Chris has coached three Policy Debate teams to the top fourteen in the nation. In addition to his success at the NFL Nationals, his students have won the Extemporaneous Speaking championships at the Harvard, Berkeley, St. Mark's, Glenbrooks and NCFL National tournaments. Mr. McDonald is the only coach to have two students win back-to-back championship titles in Extemporaneous Speaking at the prestigious MBA Round Robin.

Safety is Key

At the Florida Forensic Institute, the safety and well-being of our participants is a top priority. Therefore, we have taken a different approach to security than most summer programs. Our campus is staffed with security personnel, and the residential facility has security staff 24 hours-a-day. Outside of class, students are supervised by degree-holding senior staff, rather than college-age junior staff. An integral part of our security and safety initiative is our Dorm Mom, Kristie Taylor and Dorm Dad, Willie Warren.  Read more about their credentials on the staff page.
