Congressional Debate

Congressional debaters can learn everything they need to be successful in the legislative process, from competition to beyond.  The FFI Congress staff draws upon political science, law and related public policy backgrounds to provide the best possible instruction for its students.   Plus, FFI provides students myriad practice opportunities to hone their skills and proficiencies.

FFI offers competitors the opportunity to work with the most successful coaches and former competitors in the event.  This staff, with backgrounds in law, public policy and political science, having coached multiple NFL National Champions and/or been NFL National Champions, teaches content- both current events and constitutional law, and skills and strategies.  The competitors are divided by skill level into labs, with the ability to move between them as needed.

A sophisticated, multi-layered schedule featuring twice daily content lectures, followed by mini-sessions, is supplemented with work on research techniques, in-round strategy, bill writing, parliamentary procedure, style and rhetoric- all addressed to the individual competitor. Final Round strategies, including scenario, preparation is addressed as well, with three fully critiqued sessions.
